"Update Feed" at CallingDucks.com
The “Update Feed” at CallingDucks.com is here to keep you updated on the items on the site that you have indicated you are interested in. Items of interest could include other CDC users that you have a “Friend” connection with, or the Companies, Products, Events, and interesting People listed in our databases. It is a great tool for keeping up with what is going on in the Waterfowl Hunting World!

Here is how the “Update Feed” works:

FRIENDS

When you establish a “Friend Connection” with another CDC user, you will receive items in your “Update Feed” when something to do with them changes. This could be a change to their profile, a status update on their own board, when they post a new Field Report, enter a Tip, or when they make a comment to someone that you both share a “Friend Connection” with. It is interesting to see what other people are up to and the “Update Feed” will provide you a quick link for that activity.

DATABASE ITEMS

When you are logged in and browsing the site, you will have a “User Options” menu at the top of any page that lists an item found in our databases. These items could include a Company, Product, Event, or an interesting Person such as a Contest Caller. In the “User Options” menu you will always see an option that allows you to indicate that you are interested in the item being displayed. The menu option might be “Event Fan”, “Like”, or “Follow”. No matter the wording, that menu option is there to let you indicate that you are interested in the item and that you would like to receive updates when the information related to that item is changed.

For instance, you could become a “Fan” of an Event that you see listed in the Event Calendar. If the organizer of the Event posts any updates or changes the time of the Event, you will receive an update.

You will also have the option to “Follow” another CDC user. The “Follow” connection differs from the “Friend Connection” in that it is a one way connection. With you make someone your “Friend” they will receive updates in the “Update Feed” as you make changes on the site. When you “Follow” someone you will receive updates in your “Update Feed” only when they make certain changes, like post a comment on an Event or perhaps when they post a new public Field Report.
